The Ripple Effect – A Night to Remember

Last night’s talk was something I’ll never forget. Standing in front of so many familiar faces, I was reminded once again why I’m doing this — not just for the challenge, but for the people, the communities, and the ripple effects we can create together.

I shared a bit of my journey — from being a jockey to breaking my back, to finding new purpose through running. And now, as I prepare for RunChina.Run, a 3,000km run from Beijing to Hong Kong starting October 15, I feel both the weight and the excitement of what’s ahead.

The run will take me across 8 provinces, through cities and small towns, covering 3,000km on foot. The goal is simple but powerful: to raise $1 million for the Action Asia Foundation, giving people with disabilities the chance to discover their own superpowers.
What struck me most last night, though, was the conversation about community. Living in Lantau, I’ve seen firsthand how special places like Mui Wo and groups like Entrepreneurs of Lantau are. These aren’t just networks — they’re families of people who step up for each other, who share, support, and encourage. That’s the ripple effect I believe in: one small act that spreads outwards and changes lives.
This is what I hope Unbound Ultra-Run will become — not just my run, but our shared journey, a story of connection, grit, and community.

Thank you again to everyone who came last night — you’ve already created ripples that will carry me all the way to Hong Kong.
