On Sunday 3 May at Olympian City, we turned the atrium into a living story of resilience.

Motivational Speaker for Business Leaders, Jo Lodder speaking on Resilience at RunChina.Run event audience at Olympian City.

I stood on stage with nine extraordinary students from Buddhist Fat Ho Memorial College, John Fan (my partner on the road), Principal Eric, and the team that made it all possible. We shared never-before-seen footage and raw stories from the 3,140 km RunChina.Run documentary premier — from the Great Wall of China to Hong Kong in 60 days.

The Moment That Almost Ended It All

Day Six. Chinese hospital bed. Legs swollen like balloons. The doctor looked at me and said words I didn’t need translated: “Stop now… or we won’t treat you.”

Every voice in my head screamed quit. One phone call to my mate Stephen Timothy Kirwin changed everything. “Ice it. Legs up. Keep running — you will be fine.”

I kept going. For another 1,000+ kilometres, every step felt like knives through bone.

That moment taught me a truth I now share with every leadership team:

The moment you hand those limits back, the impossible starts moving.

The Real Stars of the Journey as seen on RunChina.Run Documentary Premiere

The students from Buddhist Fat Ho Memorial College.

Kids the world had labelled “limited.”

For 60 days they ran a minimum of 10 km every single day — then went straight into classes, homework, and city visits. By the end, they were knocking out 60 km days.

They didn’t just push past limits. They realised those limits were never theirs to begin with.

Hearing them speak, watching their transformation, and chatting with them afterwards over burgers was pure magic. They spoke about teamwork, time management, filming, budgeting — and how much they already miss the road.
